Heather Wharam My work is varied and depends on the project or theme I am involved with. Drawing is a fundamental aspect and underpins how I start. Having trained first in Fashion and Textiles and then Fine Art my work uses a mixture of materials often found or manipulated in some way. I am interested in surface and texture as well as layering and transparency. Stitching and text are important elements and the sewing machine is used both to draw with and embellish. Heather Wharam - Artist, Designer and Lecturer Heather lives in Market Harborough and works from her studio at home. She lectures part time at University and delivers workshops. With over 20 years experience in Art education she can offer a tailor made program to fit individual and academic needs. CRB registered. Heather's work is created from paper, fabric, plastic and found objects. Materials are manipulated, layered and often stitched freehand by machine. Text and images are collaged together to form unique pieces that are both bold and delicate. Influences range from local museum collections, everyday objects and events, books and personal experiences. BA(Hons) Fashion and Textiles - St Martins School of Art. PGCE (Art & Design) Education - De Montfort University. MA Fine Art - Nottingham Trent University. |
